Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is the world’s largest-full text online resource for political science, diplomatic history, international law and business, policy formation, and country analysis. The full-text database encompasses more than 400.000 pages of working papers, policy briefs, interviews, journal articles, and e-books in the field of international relations. 2. Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)

SIPRI is an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control and disarment. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources , to policy makers, researchers, media and the interested public. Based in Stockholm, SIRI also has a presence in Beijing, and is regularly ranked among the most respected think tanks worldwide.

SIPRI’s databases

a. SIPRI Multilateral Peace Operations Databse

Offers information on all United Nations and non-UN peace operations conducted since 2000, including location, dates of deployment and operations, mandate, participating countries, number of persones costs and fatalities.

b. SIPRI Military Expenditure Database

Gives consistent time series on the mi8litary spending of 172 countries since 1988, allowing comparison of countries’ military spending in local currency, at current prices; in US dollars, at consistent prices and exchange rates; and as share of GDP.

c. SIPRI Arms Transfers Database

Shows all international transfers in seven categories  of major conventional arms since 1950, the most comprehensive publicity available source of information on international arms transfers.

d. SIPRI Arms Embargoes Database

Gives information on all arms embargoes that have been implemented by an international organization, such as the EU or UN, or by a group of nations. All embargoes that are in force, or have been in force since 1988, are included.

e. SIPRI national reports databse

This Database provides links to all publicity accessible national reports on arms exports. The Database is constantly updated to include links to newly published  national reports on arms exports.

3. PARLINE database on national parliaments

The PARLINE database contains information on the structure and working methods of 266 parliamery chambers in all of the 190 countries where a national legislature exists.

 4. Women in Politics

 The women in politics database contains BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES on books and articles dealing with women in politics.

5. UN Bibliographic Information System

Catalogue of United Nations (UN) documents and publications indexed by the UN Dag Hammarskjold Library and the Library of the UN Office at Geneva. Also included are commercial publications and other non-UN sources held in the collection of the Dag Hammarskjold LIbrary. The coverage of UNBISnet is from 1979 onweard, however, older documents are being added to the catalogue on a regular basis as a result of retrospective conversation. UNBISnet also provides instant access to a growing number of full text resources in the six official languages of theUN (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish), including resolutions adopted by the General Assembly, The Economic and Social Council and the Security Council from 1946 onward.


The UNESDOC database contains the full text and bibliographic records of all documents and publications published by UNESCO since 1945 as well as bibliographic records of library acquisitions. These documents and publications are produced by UNESCO Offices and Institutes and cover all areas of its activities: education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, communication and information.

The world Factbook, produced for US policymakers and coordinated throughout the US intelligence Community, marshals facts on every country, dependency, and geographicentity in the world.
